What's Cooking

Sugar and Spice Cookies

2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup butter or margarine
2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
2/3 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Topping
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
Combine and set aside.

Heat oven to 350. Combine sugars, butter, vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Add dry ingredients and stir until blended. Shape dough into walnut sized balls and roll in topping. Place on cookie sheets and flatten with the bottom of a glass. Bake for 9 minutes and cool. Makes 3 dozen.
